GREENVILLE –  Simone L. (Boucher) Squiers, 86, passed away peacefully October 28, 2024, at Northern Light CA Dean Hospital in Greenville with her loving family by her side. She was born December 1, 1937, in St. Lucie, Quebec, the daughter of Auguste and Marie-Anne (Poulin) Boucher. Simone grew up in Quebec until she moved to Greenville in the sixth grade without being able to speak any English. She married Maxim “Mickey” Squiers April 13, 1966, and they spent 49 wonderful years together. Simone really embraced being the wife of the Chief of police and always had baked goods and hot coffee for the officers at any hour. Family was most important to Simone. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a daycare provider for many children over the years and she thought the world of all “her” kids and loved them deeply.  They called her “Mone”.  Simone had a love for “her” dog, Brody.  They had a special bond and Brody would often just sit with his “Grammy” and she smiled as she would pat him.

Simone is survived by her two children, Suanne Thibeault and Samuel Squiers and his wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, and Damian; great-granddaughter, Elsie Mae; five sisters, Yoland Graham, Jeanine Plourde, Doris Belmont, Rachel Hayes, and Louisanne Blanchet; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Mickey, Simone was predeceased by her parents; sister, Gisele Mathieu; and brother, Marie Louis Boucher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville, with Father Raj celebrant. Burial will be immediately after in the family lot of the Greenville Cemetery. All are invited back to the church for a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 217 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. 4. Suzanne, Sam and Amanda our deepest condolences to you and your families. Simone was a wonderful lady filled with so much love for everyone. Thank you for sharing her with us. She tried so hard to teach me French so I could understand the ladies at church. Many many laughs. May you all find peace and comfort knowing she is reunited with your dad, Mickey, and many family members. Her spirit will always be with you. May the Angels rejoice as she enters the Pearly Gates. Rest in Peace Simone.
